Tim's 12 Tags of 2014 - October

12 tags of 2014 - october... | www.timholtz.com
The eagerly awaited 1st of the month came and went in a blur yesterday!  But today I managed to get to my desk long enough to put my version of the tag together.
I don't celebrate Halloween as it is not really done here in South Africa, though we copy what America does a lot, this is one thing that has not taken off in a big way here, the kids on the other hand like to go round and get a few sweets if they can off unsuspecting and unprepared neighbours!
As you can see above, I am in the throws of planning to redo all the tags so far as Christmas ones and so I decided to go right ahead and just make this Christmas to start with!
I don't have the distress stain sprays yet, so I made my own in mini misters.  It worked quite well.  The masked embossed stamping is almost all covered up under the greenery, but as Tim said in class once...I know in my heart it is there!  Also I am out of texture paste, so I used gesso and it resisted the colour a lot more than the paste would have....overall I am happy though.  It is quite festive.

  3. This is a gorgeous tag. I like how the gesso resisted the ink. It's a snowy effect.

  4. What a fabulous take on Tim's tag Bella, it is just gorgeous and makes me want to make a festive one now too! We do not really celebrate Halloween here in the UK either and yet it is one of my favourite themes.... I hope you get some new stains, they are beautiful to use (speaking from the vast experience of owing a whole two of them!). Anne xx

  7. I love it that you took Tim's tag and created your own version, not just a copy of his. That's what all this is about as far as I am concerned...using his tag as a springboard for your own ideas! Great job!
