What's on My Workdesk Wednesday 296? Sewing Machine!

Health Warning!  For those of you who know me well, be warned...there is a sewing machine on my desk!
As a RULE...I don't sew.

UNLESS there is an emergency.

The repair pile is hitting emergency status.  I had to sew a new (industrial) zip onto my son's Golf bag cover.  They supply a piddly thing and of course after no time at all it had derailed.  That was last nights job.  Still on my desk are his school shorts and some of my tops that need altering for various reasons.

They might or might not get done.  The golf bag was URGENT as he has a tournament on Sunday.

The rest...we will see.

There is a pile of cut sticky backed foil vying for my attention...I think it might win me over for a while!  I need to get my steampunk on, then I might have the energy to tackle the rest of the sewing pile...time will tell.

Yes that is a roll of sticky backed foil which I found in a local craft shop.  It keeps me out of mischief!
For those of you who saw my clock on the go last week, here is a link to the tutorial of how I made it.

  4. I used to sew a lot, but only seem to do repairs on my machine now. Although I have just used it to make the heart embellishment for Tim's February tag. Love how you altered the clock what a transformation!

  5. Well done you for repairing a zip. I hate that job! But I suppose it's better than having to buy a new bag.
Your clock is amazing! Love it!

  6. Wow, well done for getting the machine out! And to do a zip too....blooming awkward things.....on a golf bag as well, that couldn't have been straightforward. Good luck with the shorts!! Lol
And what will you do with the sticky backed foil? I didn't even know there was such a thing!

  8. Hi Bella ha ha I love sewing .... But ask me to repair something ... Well that's a different thing altogether .... I'd rather do the ironing and those who know me well would laugh out loud at that.
Hope you get to play properly soon

  11. Ewww, sewing is a dirty word in my house. I have three pairs of trousers that I bought 2 years ago and they are still waiting to be shortened. I would go for the foil, much more fun :) Love your altered clock.
    Have a great week,

Sewing hey, mmm, I sew buy not regularly but I would love too..seems I need another room set up just for sewing, don't think that's going to happen. 14. I'm with the 'sewing is swearing' group - I'd have bought a new golf bag, though I know that isn't practical!! Hope you get your other sewing chores done and get back to what you do best!! Helen 8

  16. Have you recovered yet? :D Having to re-sew (by hand) the toggles back on my daughters coat today was traumatic enough. I do like (badly) sewing on a machine though - just never get a chance with a toddler running around.

Oh my word that clock is AMAZING! Is it a working one too?

  18. Yip I hear you on the sewing.. Now I have found that one of the maids in the complex has started sewing... what a bargain and she is really reasonable. I give her all my stuff and I get it all back done. I don't have to worry about broken thread or scrunched up seams... Love it.
