What's On My Workdesk Wednesday 287? Box cards

Hello fellow desker from Julia's place over at Stamping Ground.  Welcome to my desk in a WINDY Cape Town.  (Ali H...you know what I mean...but double it!)
Here is what I am busy with at the moment.  Just playing and having fun.  I am no longer doing bespoke cards for orders as it took all the fun out of creating, but rather making what takes my fancy and if someone wants to buy them and personalize them then that's great.  If not, then I can use them myself for friends.

Yes, I am posting this on Tuesday night as nothing will have changed on my desk by the morning as I will be in a meeting with my son's teacher at 7:45am!  See you all at your desks as soon as I am back at mine!

  2. Hi Bella these cards are looking brilliant ! Love the white on white !
I do know what you mean how it kills the pleasure to HAVE to make something rather than WANTING to create ! Glad you are finding the cards fun again !
I do remember the hot windy days !
Hope the meeting with the teacher goes well

  4. OOh Bella these are GORGEOUS! Did you see on Cindy's blog (plantslist.blogspot) the angels in a box..so lovely. You are absolutely right, commissioned cards are a stress and if there's one thing I've learned - this is supposed to be fun. Good on ya ga;. Now, stay out of the wind and have fun at your desk!

  5. What wonderful box cards - I love the idea of the clear cake protector/cover thingy! I would love to have a go at these, but they will have to go on the 'to do' list for 2015 (or maybe make that 2016!! LOL) Happy crafting, Chris # 15

  7. Love the idea of box cards - you can't send them in the post through, can you? Not easily, anyway, unless they fold down? I don't blame you for not wanting to do custom made cards. If you take creativity of of crafting then it's just grafting! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #30

  8. Blimey, that's an early teachers appointment!
I adore those box cards, the teapot is soooo cute!! White on white is so effective, I really love what you've done. And making for pleasure is so much fun, I know what making for orders is like, quite stressy.
And you are welcome to come shopping with us anytime. Though I warn you, we do snigger a lot. People are too serious these days.....

PS is it meteorological wind or the too many baked beans variety? Living in a male dominated house, I know all about the latter....... ;-)

  9. Thanks for popping over to my blog Belinda! It's great that the box cards fold flat, so you can send them in the post! They look so sturdy, I didn't think they would!

  16. What fab box cards and I agree, I hate doing things to order. Much better when you can just create and go with the flow. Am sure these will sell.

  18. fantastic cards, Bella, how beautiful!! I've only ever done a few commissioned cards, and much as I'd love to make back a teeny weeny little bit of what I spend (ahem) on my craft, it does take the fun out of it, so I don't blame you either. Hope the wind has dropped... did giggle at LLJ's comment! Helen 8

  20. That white box card is stunning !
I also won't make cards (or anything else for that matter) to order. Totally stifles creativity :)
We are having big (summer) storms with lightning and thunder the last few days, very scarey :(
Have a good week, and thanks for visiting too :)

  21. I love your exploding box cards, Bella! They are really cool, and they look great, all in white, too. Smashing idea to do them like this and people can personalise them how they like. I so agree about doing things for sale destroying the creativity - I've never had any joy with that! I make things for love these days.

Thanks for your encouraging comment - glad you like my album, and I'm very aware that weight loss always happens faster at the beginning, and tends to go more slowly as time goes on. I know that I am now half way to my target weight and have started to notice a difference in myself apart from what the scales tell me, so I'm not really discouraged.

  28. Wowza! I am very much loving those card boxes! Do you have a tutorial for making them... now that I've seen them I just must try them, well at least one for myself! :D I know what you mean about making custom orders...I used to have a wedding cake business and the stress of the potential of disaster with something as delicate as a cake and therefor possibly ruining the most important day of someone's life... well, as you can imagine... I finally stopped. You are right about it taking ALL of the fun out of the process. Now I rarely even bake! It is indeed much better to make the things you enjoy and if someone wants to buy it great, if not... c'est la vie! :D Sorry I'm so late getting around to you for this week's WOYWW, I am indeed a tortoise in life :D
    Hugs and happy crafting,
