WOYWW 221? Journal stuff

Hello fellow Wednesday Desk hopper from Julias place at Stamping Ground.
I am prepping for a class on journaling at a school this Friday...I have die cut some stencils you can see lying on my journal for them and am busy making sample pages for their inspiration.

Thank you for all my good luck wishes for my market....they must have worked!  It went superbly well as I sold 70+ of the 100+ cards I eventually made by Sunday!  Here is my table display.
Now to see what I can see on your desk,

Market day!

Last year I was invited to participate in the Jewish New Year Market and again this year.  I have quite a few Jewish students and grew up with Jewish neighbours so am quite comfortable with their traditions.

I have spent the past 5 to 6 months making Jewish specific cards for this event (mostly between 8 and 10pm) as I teach during the day and some evenings  as well as nearly every Saturday which is why it took me that long to make 110 cards for today.  The good news is that I sold 70+ cards so it was all worth it in the long run and the ones I have over I will be able to sell to my students!  I also had two friends who make and sell cards give me their stock for the stand so that it would look nice and full and I sold a fair amount of theirs too.

I am really chuffed with the day and am off to put my feet up

What's on my Workdesk Wednesday 220? Market Stock!

Hello fellow Wednesday Desk Hopper!  Welcome to my desk in a very wet and typical winters day in Cape Town, South Africa.  The kids will need flippers and snorkels again today for hockey if the matches go ahead and us spectators will need waders!

Well on my desk are the 80+ cards I have managed to manufacture for a market I am doing this Sunday.  Wow, but it has come around fast...I started making stock about 3 months ago and boy am I glad I did, because life gets in the way and before you know it, the market is here and stock levels are low!  This time however, I think I will be ok.  Time will tell.  Looking at them all in these boxes, it doesn't look like much, I will try take a photo of my table on Sunday (if I remember in all the action) to post next week.

You can also see my overflowing ribbon drawer as my red rick-rack just wont behave...time to sort my desk out again...a perpetual activity around here!

See you at your desk over at Stamping Ground where Julia is hosting the world wide desk hop and snoop!

What's on My Workdesk Wednesday 219? Tim Holtz!

Well, not him personally (yet)! But all of his products to make my July and August tags as well as this birthday card for an order that is!  I finally finished my July tag and got stuck into the August one too as seen below.
EXCITING NEWS!  Tim Holtz is coming to town in March next year together with Paula Cheney to teach!  This will be my 3rd class with him since 2009 when I first met him and an addiction to everything Tim started!  He posted this pic on Facebook this morning...I went to check and see that he was not sitting at my desk! LOL  Yes even Tim is getting in on this desk thing!  (I might just ask him in March to pose on my desk so I can make this heading come true!  ROFL) I can just picture it already!
Photo: one of those crazy deadline days...whew!
Now I am off to see what is on your desk over at Julias place at Stamping Ground

Tim's August Tag for 2013

For once I have just about everything for this tag...namely one of the stamp sets Tim used this month!  I love the fact that he used all of his travel sets on different tags which is so nice to see how he varies the same technique for different stamps.  I do not however have the word strips...so a clock had to suffice...I thought it appropriate for catching a train!  I also changed things up a bit as I used red archival ink for the Rail Road Crossing sign to get a bit more colour into this one.

Thanks for the visit.

More Samples! Christmas!

Block your eyes if you are not ready for Christmas yet!  I am busy making store samples again with all the dies and embossing folders in various combinations to give our customers some ideas.

I figure there are only a few week-ends left between now and December for peeps to make their cards, so I am hopefully creating inspiration!

What's on My Workdesk Wednesday 218 Card Samples

Hello fellow Wednesday (Speed?) Desker from Julia's place over at Stamping Ground.  Welcome to my desk in a wet and wintery Cape Town, South Africa! (We have not had a typical winter yet so this is merely a statement...not a complaint you understand?)

Yesterday my store got in a new set of stamps and dies from a new supplier, so I have set about making samples to show my customers how they can be used.  I must admit that I find it very hard when ordering for the store, not to order one for me and more for the store...out of 130 items delivered...only 9 things had my name on!  Not bad huh?  Any one remember the Marie Biscuit advert?  "One for you and one for me and one for you and one for me..."
Well you cant really use a product for a sample and then put it on the shelf for sale now can you...?  That's my excuse and I am sticking to it!

On my desk you might spy the Spellbinders lattice die in the front of my desk as well as the stunning gate in my Distress markers box, those are part of the 9 items apart from the stamps used above!

well that is me...I tried to keep it short and sweet.

See you at your desk.

CC101 live pocket book binding class by Neil

Remeber CC101 by Tim?  Well, if you did the on line class over a year ago, then there is a private Face Book Group which started when it was done so us like-minded peeps could hang out and continue to inspire each other regularly.  There is etiquette and are rules to keep us all in line so it works just fine, complete with challenges and prizes too!
Recently one of our group, Neil, designed and had built a Studio for the bottom of his garden and invited any CC101 peeps to join him for a days workshop to make a book to house technique tags that we did with Tim.  He then opened it up to those of us over the sea and we all linked up via Google Plus Hangouts and so there were some in the USA who were up at 3am to join in the fun!
He posted instructions and a list of requirements for us all to be able to make the same thing.  Unfortunately I was working for the first few hours of his class and so I decided to play catch up and made a W-fold 12" sheet mini book (x2 joined together) instead of his pocket system so I could carry on and make the cover with the class in real time.  I spent last night and this morning making the ATC (had to change the size here too cos I changed the book) "tags" to fit the pockets and have glued a set of instructions both on the pocket and the tag, in case they get separated.
I want to say a huge thanks to Neil who put so much time, thought and effort into yesterday.  You really brought those of us who were involved all a lot closer as it was so special to see faces and hear voices of peeps you had got to know on line.
