What's on My Workdesk Wednesday 214? Flat Susan!

Hello fellow desk hopper from Julia's place over at Stamping Ground, welcome to my desk in a Cold but sunny Cape Town, South Africa.

Today I have a very important guest...Can you see Flat Susan (on her pedestal with her name on - you might have to click on the photo to enlarge it to be able to see her at the back next to my roller towel.) sent to me by Neet? (a fellow desker and the creative mind behind Flat Susan and her travels around the world...)
See my previous few posts if you are intrigued about what Flat Susan and I have been up to, or click on her link at the top of my blog.  It is a fun thing we are doing to get to know more about where each other lives.

Then there is the general chaos of trying to make a South African version of Tim's July tag, which is all about celebrating our Freedom Day in April...yes all a bit confusing, but I want to make my tag relevant.

Also on my desk are some trial runs of an origami box which I found on Pinterest.  I am determined to do at least 3 Pinterest ideas a week or I am not allowed to go on Pinterest to gather more inspiration...a line I have "drawn in the sand" for myself or I would spend all my spare and creative time on the PC looking at other peeps projects and not making any of my own.  My movers and shapers are tipped unceremoniously on my desk as I needed the butterfly to make the "clasp" for the top of the box.  Another Pinterest idea, only they used a punch and I worked out how to do it with my die...I will do a post a bout that later and pin it to Pinterest...see I do give back, I do!

So there you have the chaos on my desk, now I am off to see what I can see on your desk!

Thanks for the visit.

Bella

  1. Thank you for your visit this morning, and, yes, I could do with a bit of luck. However, I think I have some luck in that I have a couple of good, trustworthy roofers, which is worth a lot. I admire your resolve to carry through three projects before you can undertake another. I have a seriously butterfly mind and, as a result, have loads of UFO's everywhere. My resolve for today is to do at least 10 blogs on every trip to the computer. Have a good week. xx Maggie #10

  2. Hi there.
Just popping my head around the door to say hi as I haven't been around for a while. Lots going on today! I know what you mean about doing rather than just looking!
Hope you have a great week.

  3. The flat Susan idea sounds so interesting. I recognize this dolly from a Non Sequiter (not sure how to spell it!) stamp set a friend of mine had some years ago. I love all her cogs and wheels. How good you are to get down to actually acting on the inspiration you gain from Pinterest! I'm impressed! Julie Ann #55

  8. Hi Bella, waving to Flat Susan from Scotland. She must be enjoying watching you make the tag ... it seems to be coming along nicely too.

Good luck with your personal Pinterest challenge/limit ... it can be so addictive that I've stopped looking for now ... there's simply not enough hours in the day :) Elizabeth x #57

  10. Hi Bella,
Thanks for the earlier visit, I finally gave up last night and went to bed, but I'm up early and traversing the glob in my pjs.
I need to catch up on the travels of FS, such a cool idea, wonder when she will reach the US? Can't wait for her visit.
Love your work area, and the way you have your stamps all along the back wall.

  11. Maybe I can send some of this heat we have here to you. Thanks for the visit Bella. Oh my goodness I love the Flat Susan. I am very intrigued with the idea. I will check it out.
I like the idea of setting goals for all the pinterest inspirations. I might have to set some for myself because I have too many pins.

Have fun crafting. Have a blessed day.

  14. Thanks for stopping by my desk and leaving me a comment. I am really loving doing the WOYWW every week. I wish I had found you all sooner. But I'm here now.
I love your work space. So nicely organized. I love seeing your tags in stages. I also was excited about Flat Susan, (I emailed you). My daughter did Flat Stanley her last yr in public school. She homeschools now. I digress though… I have enjoyed my visit. Til next week. (((HUGS)))

  15. We had the weirdest weather today. Freezing cold to start off, then quite hot and the absolutely freezing again at about half past three.
Love the flat Susan and I know just what you mean about Pinterest, if I don't ration myself, I will spend what little free time I have over there!
    Happy WOYWW!

Ps. I saw on RSA Stampers today that somebody received a letter postmarked the 17th of November last year! So those ATC's might still take a 'little' longer.

  16. Well, Flat Susan looks incredibly comfortable in her South African residence! Hope she has a lovely stay with you :-)
I know what you mean about Pinterest though...wonderful but ultimately time destroying...much better to be creating ourselves!

  19. How fun to do "flat Susan"!! And I would love to know more origami. My husband can do a cube, but not a box. I would love to see it when it's done!

  20. Bella, I know you will be an excellent hostess for Flat Susan's adventures! And you are an inspiration to me with your "line in the sand" about Pinterest! I have a feeling you are successful at whatever you set your mind to doing!!

  22. Hi Bella,
Thanks for dropping by and for your kind comment re the pan pastel project. I've only had them less than a week, but I think I am pretty happy with them!
I see a paper towel roll on your desk that I'm guessing you use for wiping up stuff. I use el cheap watercolour paper instead, and then you end up with even MORE background type papers to add to your stash :)

  23. FS is hilarious on that pedestal, looks like the queen gazing down on you! Let's hope she doesn't start telling you what to do! Or worse, insists on you cleaning your desk up!

  24. That is such a good idea Bella... think I am going to have to do the same... even with all the blogs that I visit... I spend so much time doing that stuff there is no time to create then the pressure sets in... I came home to over 2000 mails... yikes... just have to do what I can do... Love what you are getting up to lady... you have so much fun.
