What's on My Workdesk Wednesday 319? Samples for Class

Hello fellow Desker.

(skip this paragraph if you are speed desking...)
Welcome to my space in a FREEZING Cape Town, South Africa.  I am on the coast so we don't get snow on the ground, but we have some very tall mountains not so far away...about an hours drive and they have a goodly blanket of snow on them which fell this week and so the wind chill factor makes it feel like we are in the Arctic even when the sun is shining!  Here we kid ourselves as a nation that it does not get that cold or even ridiculously hot...therefore we do not have central heating or double glazing nor air conditioners automatically built into our houses...and so we either freeze or fry!  The only time that is normal around here is spring or autumn.

But you are not here for a weather synopsis...rather to see my desk.

I have been making samples to show my students what they can do with the techniques I am teaching this Saturday.  Here are the tags they will be making and they have the instructions printed on the back for future reference.  My examples are using the same techniques but with different colours, stencils and stamps to show how different it can look depending on what you use to decorate your card, art journal or scrapbook page with...
I was sad to see that our fellow desker Eliza died suddenly as I always enjoyed her posts which had obligatory pictures of her dear Yoda cat in them cos we all demanded to know where he was if she negated to post him in her desk blog.  Funny how even though most of us WOYWWers have never met IRL, that I do think of you all as friends.  I have been around for 5 of the 6 years that this has been a phenomenon all be it sparsely of late, but Wednesday, just doesn't feel right till I have posted or read a few posts on WOYWW.  So thanks Julia for the Community you have built here in Blogland and to you special Deskers who make it the special place that it is.  May Eliza's family know she was loved around the world and that her passing leaves a hole in Cyberspace too.

  4. A lovely piece about Eliza whose passing has left me in tears on so many occasions this past week. How true that we have Julia to thank so much for the friendships that have been formed although in real life we may never meet. What a funny old world it is when you think of it, but what a wonderful thing too.
Love your samples and your tags, one of my favourite teaching workshops is Distress techniques. Adore that orange page.
I will show your wonderful mailing to me next week, somehow I just didn't include it this week as other things took precedence. I do hope you don't mind.
    Hugs and thanks again

  5. Well said on the WOYWW community and thank you for saying some beautiful words about Eliza. So sad indeed.
Those tags are amazing! Can you do an online tutorial? I.e. post the reverse side with a bit of an explanation.... I would love to learn how to do that. I assume you have used distress inks. I have the inkpads. Any good?
    Have a great week,

    1. I will do an online tutorial with pleasure as soon as I have my samples back and I can scan them cos the photo does not show enough detail in each one.

  8. Hi Belinda. It's always so lovely to hear of the changes in the weather in other parts of the world thanks to linking up on a Wednesday. We are so lucky to be part of this wonderful blogging family thanks to Julia aren't we but of course that means we feel the pain when one of our friends dies. Eliza was such a lovely lady and will be sadlt missed by so many of us.

  18. Hi Bella sorry to hear that you are shivering as you stencil! Beautiful tags, hope the class goes well - sure that they will love learning these techniques. Very shocking to hear about Eliza - her poor family having only lost her brother so recently, it must be devestating! Same age as me. Makes me all the more aware how important it is to live each day to the full! Take care and stay warm! Ali #59

  20. Bella, those tags are absolutely brilliant, If you were teaching in Uk I would get you to teach me how to do them. Gorgeous they are.
Thanks for dropping by at my desk, yes we took Max on the boat, he seems quite content on the boat, his only problem is that he doesn't like using a litter tray he would rather find his own toilet and sometimes we moor in place where the ground is completely unsuitable for him.
    Bless you

  21. Lovely tags I am sure your class were thrilled to learn some of your techniques. We also have freeing cold weather here and loads of rain and yes we also share in load shedding but not as much as the bigger centres. Keep warm.
