What's on my Workdesk Wednesday no 555? Creative world Frankfurt 2020

I am so beyond excited... I could pop!
So on my desk is my plane ticket and business cards I am chopping up.  Pitty my printer will not get my pink hair colour right... I will have to get professional ones printed at some stage.  Seeing as this trip is last minute dot com... I have to do it myself!

So I'm off to Frankfurt to see all the new products, meet my hero's face to face and have a blast!

When I come up for air, I'll go see what everyone else has on their desks via Julia's place!

Dreamcatcher by SnipArt

I received this awesome huge Dreamcatcher by SnipArt from a friend for Christmas... My mind has been scheming up a plan to use it for a while.  I had a 70cm x 30cm canvas lying around in my studio and thought I would use it for this project.

Here you can see me plotting the layout before I even open the packaging of the canvas.

Once I had glued everything in place, I spraypainted the whole thing black.
Then, using a stencil I cut from an A4 plastic folder to look like dripping paint, I used the blue pot from Finnabair's Patina Effect paste through it as I know this has good coverage.
Next, I got out my trusty glue gun and created 3D drips over the top of the stencilled image.  I also added some details to the feathers with some glossy accents ( close up photo at the end of this post)
Once this had cooled, I spraypainted it black again, only this time, the paint did not stick to the hot glue, leaving the blue shining through.  I loved this look from this happy accident!
After this had dried, I used Art Alchemy Metallique Deep Waters, Sparks Giner Magic and some Ruby and brass Treasure Gold rubs to highlight the dreamcatcher and feathers.
Here you can see the details I added to the feathers with the glossy accents.

To link everything together, I also added some gold to the end of the paint drips.
Lastly I dismantled some dangly earings with gold butterlies on them and added 3 of them to the main circle at the top for a little more eyecandy.

Whats on my Workdesk Wednesday no554

I am making a point of trying to join in with the desk snoop over at Julia's place every Wednesday... for short we call it WOYWW and post a picture of our current desk or project for eachother to enjoy!

So today on my desk feels like a million different things...
from left to right...

The bright red box is my set of CDs to learn German (I moved to Berlin from South Africa 9 months ago)

Next to this is my new stamp set still in its packaging, waiting patiently to be inked and tested and used and this is lying on top of my collection of AALL & Create square stencils.

The white things behind these are moulds cast from a Stamperia mould in polyurethane, ready for the mini album I want to make of the Alice in Wonderland event I did the decor for 2 years ago...

Three packets of micro beads from Flyng Tiger... and the giant dustbin with Milkshake on it on the other side of my desk is also from my shopping spree there yesterday...

Front and center is my new Lawn Fawn Pivot pop up card die which I am experimenting with. (2 wire cutters are to take the new die appart)

Moving further right... there are some silicone moulds which I borrowed from my friend Olga to cast some things for my stash.

Behind these is a black 3D printed (yes, I have a 3D printer... It's lots of fun) scull and crossbones ready for a giant 2m x 60cm banner I am making for someone.

Lastly the piece of sticky non slip shelf mat that Tim suggested we use under our ink pads to stop them playing "air hockey" on our desks when trying to use them one handed.  A total game changer for me!

I won't go into the general chaos at the back of my desk... cos even I don't know why half that stuff is still on my desk... other than the empty cofee cup, which will be refilled for me to sit and visit other people participatig in this desk hop!

What's on my Workdesk Wednesday 553?

Hello fellow creative!  It's been a long time since I participated in the world wide desk hop... But here I am.  Since I last posted on WOYWW, I have moved across the world from Cape Town, South Africa, to Berlin, Germany!

I have been lucky enough to carve out a pice of creative space all to myself.  The flat we are renting had an alcove in the lounge area, so we built a room divider with Ikea Kallex units and now I have my own little place to mess... I mean craft!

Here you see my art journal which I have been working in recently.  Its lying open at a page I very nearly glued together... now I have sprayed Distress Oxide Brushed corduroy over it... I think it has a chance...  I've discovered Stamperia papers and stencils and am absolutely in love with them.  I am very steampunk orientated and their designs are just so interesting and different.  Right up my alley.

The scull and crossbones is off my 3D printer which is now back up and running.  I need to print this little guy because I have an order for a banner like the one I created for Truth Coffee shop back in 2016.  Someone from Switzerland was there on holiday in April, saw my work, and has been patiently waiting for me to pull myself towards myself and create it...lets just say that moving countries is not for the faint hearted... I've been here just over 8 months and am now finally feeling settled.

Dim Holtz bigz die labels

Hi there fellow Tim Addict...

I have been collecting Tim's dies for years.  When they first came out the labels were just in English... then they had 3 languages on the title, then more, which meant the font got smaller and harder to read, especially for a slightly dyslexically challenged person like me...

So I set about recreating the stickers... here they are for you in PDF format to download (←←press/click the word download to get the link) and print too...  of course these are only the ones I needed... so the one you are looking for might not be there...

Here is a visual of the ones I have done:

But, please remember, if there are any mistakes... don't shoot the messenger... I am dyslexic after all...

I just put double sided tape on the back and put them in place!  Now I have a uniform look to my dies and I can read them easier  Win, win!
